This image of part of the Monkey Head Nebula shows a region of star birth.
The picture, a mosaic of several images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, has been released to mark the 24th anniversary of the launch of the telescope in 1990.
The image captures the infrared light from glowing interstellar particles within this gigantic cloud of gas and dust. The dust particles are heated by radiation from the newborn stars in the centre of the nebula.
The Monkey Head Nebula is some 6,400 light years away.
